Eye Care: 20-20-20 Reminder

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 28, 2026 · Replaces the version of March 23, 2026

Ngôn ngữ: Tiếng Việt

Eye Care is a small wellness utility: every 20 minutes it reminds you to look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. It has no user accounts and no servers of our own. Your settings and statistics live on your device. The only data that leaves your device goes to three services we rely on — Google Firebase (analytics and configuration), Google AdMob (the ads that keep the app free) and RevenueCat (subscriptions) — and this policy explains exactly what each one receives and the choices you have.

We never sell your personal data, and we never receive your name, email address, contacts, photos, location or the content of your screen.

1. Who we are and what this covers

This policy applies to the mobile application Eye Care: 20-20-20 Reminder on Android and iOS (the “app”), published by the Eye Care developer team (“we”). It describes the data handled when you use the app. It does not cover the app stores themselves or third-party websites reached from an advertisement.

Eye Care is a general wellness and productivity tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat any condition, and the statistics it keeps (how many breaks you took, for how long) are not health records and never leave your device.

2. Data that stays on your device

The app stores the following locally, in its own private storage:

None of this is uploaded by us. Depending on your device settings, the operating system may include the app’s storage in an encrypted device backup (iCloud or Google backup) under Apple’s or Google’s own policies. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

3. Notifications, alarms and Eye Protection

Notifications

With your permission, the app schedules local notifications on your device: “time for a break”, “break over”, an optional reminder to start your routine, and — on Android — a live countdown. These are generated entirely on the device from your schedule. No notification content is sent to us or to anyone else, and the app never reads your other notifications or personal content.

Exact alarms (Android)

The app asks Android for permission to schedule exact alarms so that a 20-minute reminder fires at 20 minutes, not “sometime later”. This permission is used for nothing else.

Eye Protection filter

Eye Protection tints your whole screen with a warm filter to reduce glare. On Android this requires the “display over other apps” permission. The filter is a translucent colour layer only: it cannot see, read, record or transmit anything shown beneath it. The feature is off until you turn it on, and you can revoke the permission at any time in system settings.

4. Analytics and remote configuration (Google Firebase)

The app uses Firebase Analytics to understand how it is used in aggregate — for example which screens are opened, whether reminders are switched on, when breaks are completed or skipped, and when an ad was shown. Firebase receives, together with each event, a randomly generated app instance ID, the app version, your device model and operating system version, your language and an approximate country derived from your IP address. We use this only to improve the app and never to identify you personally.

The app uses Firebase Remote Config to switch features on or off (for example the ads, the update prompt or the subscription offer) without shipping a new version. Fetching the configuration sends the same technical identifiers as above.

Google acts as our processor for these services. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Ads keep the app free. Unless you subscribe to Eye Care Premium, the app may show:

Ads are served by Google AdMob and, through it, Google’s certified advertising partners. To request and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects:

Personalised vs. non-personalised ads

With your consent, Google may use this data to select ads based on your interests. Without it, you still see ads, but they are chosen from context (such as language and general location) rather than from a profile of you. Both kinds are subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. The list of ad technology providers that may receive data is published by Google at AdMob ad technology providers.

Your choices

The app never requests an ad before the consent status for your region has been determined, and a declined consent means no personalised ad is ever requested.

6. Eye Care Premium (subscriptions)

When the Premium offer is available, purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details. To recognise your subscription across launches and devices, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated anonymous app user ID, the store receipt or purchase token, product identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, and basic device information. RevenueCat acts as our processor; see RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy. Refunds and cancellations are handled by the store under its own terms.

7. Children

Eye Care is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Legal bases and your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on:

You have the right to access, correct, delete and receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing) and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Because we hold no account data, most requests are fulfilled by the controls above: change or delete data on your device, withdraw ad consent in the app, or reset your advertising ID. For anything else, contact us.

If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used and shared, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Personalised advertising may count as “sharing” under some laws; you can opt out through the ad choices in section 5, and we honour the AdMob restricted data processing signal. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

9. Retention and deletion

10. International transfers

Google and RevenueCat operate servers in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, these providers rely on approved safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

11. Security

Data on your device is stored in the app’s private, sandboxed storage. All communication with Google and RevenueCat is encrypted in transit. We collect as little as the app needs, and we do not build or hold user profiles.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the app’s data practices change — for example if we add an advertising format or a new service — and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.

13. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, use the developer contact and support links on the app’s Google Play or App Store listing. We answer within 30 days.
